Games and Activities
(for Ages 16-18)

Place chairs facing inward in a circle formation. The girls sit in the chairs with the guys sitting at the girls' feet. The girl takes off both her shoes and tosses them into the middle of the circle. Then each guy is blindfolded. On "GO" the guys must retrieve his partner's shoes (with verbal directions from his partner) and put each shoe back correctly on the appropriate foot. When both shoes are put on correctly the girl takes off the guy's blindfold. Continue the game until the last couple does it right!

Everyone at the party secretly writes on a piece of paper a sentence or title of two outstanding experiences they have had (funniest, most embarrassing, happiest, etc.). The host draws a slip of paper and reads one of the experiences to the group. Pick three people to come up and finish the story, including the person who had the experience. After the stories have been told, the rest of the group tries to decide who is telling the truth.

Organize guests in a circle. Couples share an experience from their life. Each person then creates that story in 15 minutes by cutting out pictures, headlines, and articles. You could then switch partners and repeat the activity. Or simply display the stories for everyone to browse throughout the evening.

The names of famous people are written on slips of paper and pinned on each person's back. Each person must figure out the name on his/her back by asking only yes or no questions to the remaining participants.

Start by telling a story similar to this: The earth will blow up in one hour and I own a spaceship that can carry everyone to the moon, but I am very picky. I will only allow certain people to come. I also have all the provisions we need, but to pay for the trip, you must bring two items. The secret to this game is that the two items they bring must have the same initials as their own name. If your name is Brad Jackman, you might say " I am bringing Balloons and Jell-O. Can I join you?" Most people catch on quickly. But you might have to give examples of equipment you would accept from a specific individual.

Darken a house or apartment completely. Everyone goes to a specific area to wait while one person goes and hides. After giving the person time enough to hide, the remainder of the group tries to find him. When he is found, the person finding him gets into the same hiding place. There they wait until all those playing have found the hiding place. The first person finding the hiding place gets to hide next.

The group sits in a circle around the outside of the room. One person is selected as the kitty. The kitty then crawls around on hands and knees, brushing up against arms or legs, or laying his/her head on laps, purring all the time. The person receiving the kitty's attention then pats the person on the head and says: "Nice kitty". When the kitty succeeds in getting someone to laugh, that person becomes the kitty.

Here's a party starter. The host or hostess finds out two or three things about each guest in advance. They could be such things as: A beautiful girl with blonde hair, A guy from Toledo. He likes Spanish foods. Give each guest a list. They must then obtain the signature of the person who matches the description (the two or three items).

Everyone sits in a large circle and select one person to be IT. IT sits on someone's lap and says, "Honey, I love you." He/she has to reply, "Honey, I love you, but you can't make me smile." If he/she smiles or laughs, that person becomes IT.

One person is asked to leave the room. With the person out, the others in the group agree on a pattern for imitating another person. For example, each person imitates the person two places to their left, or the person with the same color eyes to their right. When the "Psychiatrist" returns, he/she may ask anyone questions. Each person answers questions assuming they are the person being imitated. If one of the "Crazy group" yells "Psychiatrist", all players must run around and switch places, so that each person is now imitating a different person.

Have a party where each person writes down something that represents happiness to him/her. Draw the ideas from a hat. After each idea is read, everyone tries to guess whose idea it is.

Ask everyone to bring a wrapped white elephant gift (something of little value that you might sell at a yard sale). Play a game of bingo. Play until 5 players to get a "Bingo". As a person calls "Bingo", he can choose a gift either from the unclaimed gifts, or from someone who already selected a gift, who then must choose another gift not yet claimed. Then play another game with 5 more winners (only one gift per person). Play until each person has a gift.

A good get-acquainted game for a group is to list the name of guest and something you have in common with that guest. And each common trait can only be used once (i.e. same major, same birth month, brother named Dave, etc.). Whoever has the most names/unique traits in common wins a small prize.

Go to a supermarket and ride the kiddy rides (carousel or fire trucks), then pay for some little kids to ride.

Take turns drawing pictures that represent a story from the scriptures and see if others can guess the scripture story.
