Ideas for Asking
(for Ages 16-18)

Take a large box, tape a strip of paper on the bottom with your name, and fill the box with shreds of paper. Wrap the box and tape a note to the outside, inviting him/her to a dance, and that your name can be found on one of the slips of paper.

The theme of my girls ask guys dance was "The Punk Rawk Show" and to ask my guy, I made a giant concert ticket that said "The Punk Rawk Show featuring You and Me, etc". I cut it up and hid it in pieces around his room. He had to put it together to see what it said.

Make a snowman and put it on his/her porch, write a note saying.. I'd melt if you went to the _______dance with me!

If you want to make a lasting impression, use an aerial letter banner; everyone who sees it will remember...especially that special someone.

Send an invitation for a date in pieces over a period of several days. You can write riddles, or send puzzle pieces, or compose a poem or song.

Rent a monkey suit and take a bunch of bananas. Slit the fruit and slide notes into each banana, which when pieced together form the poem of your choosing. Plenty of "monkey plays" can be utilized.

Send a message attached to a Brillo pad--and offer to do his/her dinner dishes in exchange for a date.

Make a large message with sidewalk chalk on his/her street. Draw a path and put a word about every 25 feet. Call and ask them to take a walk outside and follow the path. Use your best voice disguise.

How to ask a girl to a dance: Put a large bag of flour on her doorstep with this paper: The Recipe for Homecoming 1. First add a pinch of excitement. 2. Mix in some happiness. 3. Sprinkle in a group of smiles. 4. Throw in a bundle of fun. 5. Add a drop of thrills and suspense. 6. Lastly, sift through the flour to find out who is asking you. Do not put your name in the flour. Instead, an hour later drop off a flower with your name in it and a sign that says Whoops! Wrong Flower!

Take a bottle of pop with a twist top. Insert a laminated slip of paper that asks: Will you go to prom with me? When the two of you are sitting next to each other alone, hum the melody of a phone (ex: the nokia theme song {dana nana nana aaa} or your intended date's favorite song.) Pull out the soda pop bottle, open it, and say "it's for you."

Tie bananas to a tree and attach a note saying I'd go bananas if you will go to the dance with me.

Fill the room with blue balloons only, and leave a poster that says, "If you want to go to ________, send me a blue balloon, if not, send me the yellow balloon." Make sure you don't leave any yellow balloons!

Take a basket and fill it up with hamburger buns and attach a note that states: "May I "escart" your "buns" to the ___________ dance?"

Cut out circles of construction paper and purchase Hershey kisses. Leave the circles and kisses on the floor of the bedroom, car, or office of your intended date with a note that says, "Now that I've SPOTTED you and KISSED the ground you walk on, will you go with me to ___?"

Is there a special place you'd like to get him/her to secretly? Cut out letters from magazines, paste them together to form a secret message, and arrange for a friend to deliver the message for this anonymous rendezvous.

Buy a LARGE bag of M&Ms. Punch out enough circles with a hole punch corresponding to the letters in your name. Write the letters on the small circles and glue them on the M&M's (one letter for each M&M). Put them in a bag and tape the bag to a sign "Will you go with me to ___________".

Open a package of RITZ crackers, on the crackers in marker write a message, one word per cracker, asking for a "ritzy date".
