Ideas for Asking
(for Ages 16-18)

Go to the market and buy a bunch of different candy bars and then use what they say on them, taping them to a poster to ask someone on a date or to a dance. Here's an example: Hey there [big hunk] [look]'s like your my [lifesaver]. I think you and I should [Mamba] all night at Sader(the dance).

Send your date clues during the day (your last clue sends him/her to collect a piņata, which goes with the theme of your dance). Inside is a sign that says: "Hey, I would go hog wild if you were my date for Pigskin Ball", or "Dancing for joy if you could be my date for the Junior Prom". Or just make up your own message depending on what the design of the piņata is. Don't forget to fill it with candy. Remember to remind him/her to break it open.

Write your message with each word of the message on a separate piece of paper. Put each piece inside a balloon, and leave the balloons for your potential date with the message "your invited to a popping good time. Pop all the balloons for the details."

Remove a wheel off her car and leave it on her doorstep with a note asking her out (Editor's observation: This is also a good way to get arrested).

Put the words of: Will - you - go - out - with - me? on separate pieces of paper. Then put them into a bag of kitty litter and have them find the words!!!!

Buy some tickets for a concert or ball game. Simply mail your date a ticket explaining that someone (the holder of the accompanying ticket) will pick him/her up the night of the event at a certain time. For confirmation, ask for a sign ("Tie a yellow ribbon around your mailbox, if yes. Otherwise, leave the ticket in an envelope if you can't go and I'll pick it up tomorrow").

Send a formal invitation. Include a reply card for him/her to send back saying whether or not he/she can go. Make sure there is enough time before the event for the reply card to be returned (the formal invitation can be made using the computer).

Take your date to a restaurant and prearrange for the waiters to come out and sing their Happy Birthday song with new lyrics asking him/her to prom.

Cut out a whole bunch of different sized circles (small, medium, large) Scatter the circles all over his/her room on the floor, on the bed, and on the walls. THEN, place a poster somewhere they can see it which reads: "I don't mean to put you on the SPOT, but will you go to the dance with me?"

Give your prospective date an unopened bag of flour with a note that says "Look in the flour." The next day, after he/she has searched the bag of flour with no luck, give him/her a rose (or other kind of flower) with a rolled up note in the middle: "Oops! Wrong flower! Will you go out with me anyway?"

Buy a package of yellow post-it notes. Write on every single one of them "Will you go to homecoming with me?" and put them all over his/her car while he/she is at work, with a poster on the windshield that says: "I had a question so I decided to post-it."

Give a recording to you potential date with a note that says "Your mission should you decide to take it, is to find the coded message. This message will destruct after you have listened to it." Copy a ton of boring songs onto the tape and in the middle of it somewhere, ask him/her out. Make sure he/she has to listen to a lot of music before finding your message.

Trash their room with a saying to the effect "My heart would be "trashed" if you would go to the dance with me."

Cut out dozens of paper hearts and glue a Popsicle to each heart. Stick the hearts all over the lawn. Make one big heart that says "Don't have a heart attack, I'm just asking you for a date"

Send the following note: Genesis 2:18 reminds us that" It is not good that a man should be alone...." "Would you join me for next week's dance?"

Buy DOZENS of "Swedish Fish" gummy candies, (individually wrapped) and put them all over his/her room. (I don't mean just a couple, I'm talking he/she'll be having fishes turn up in odd places MONTHS after the dance.. in drawers, between sheets, in shoes, etc.) Make a poster decorated with fish that says: "If fishes were wishes and you had three, Would one of them be to go to the dance with me?"

For a special occasion, try a treasure hunt--complete with clues hidden in the apartment building, around campus, or inside his/her apartment
