Ideas for Asking
(for Ages Under 16)
Get a box of Honeycomb cereal, on the outside write "Honey Comb your hair and lets go Dance'n" Then on the inside have your name cut up in pieces and let them figure it out.
Get an old clock that runs on batteries and has an alarm. Attach a note saying something like "If you have the time, would you like to go out with me?" Then set the alarm for about a minute later than the time you will drop it off and leave it on their porch or by their window at night.
Take a basket and fill it up with hamburger buns and attach a note that states: "May I "escart" your "buns" to the ___________ dance?"
Find an old bottle, paint a few tiny flowers on it, tie a ribbon around the neck, enclose your message inside-and have it delivered mysteriously to his/her door.
Get a small cake pan and fill it with water. Laminate your message, and when the water is partly frozen, put the it in the middle. When it is frozen, frost it to look like a cake. They will try to eat it and will have to wait for it to melt. :)
Make a fortune cookie from a recipe online with a fortune that says something like "___, will you go to the dance with me?" Take them out for Chinese and ask the waiter to present it to your date at the end of dinner.
Kidnap a personal item (like a teddy bear or basketball shoes) and leave a ransom note made from cut up newspapers & magazines saying: "Your [whatever] has been kidnapped. If you ever wish to see it again, go to [dance/date] with me or leave $2,500,000.00 in small bills [in a designated area]."
Make a simple web site and ask him/her out personally (get a web page from a free service). You may want to add some nifty graphics like hearts. If they don't have the internet, have them go to the Library.
Get a fortune cookie and take the fortune out of it and put in your own fortune that says will you go to.... with me? The easiest way to get the fortune out is to take tweezers and just pull it out and then put the new one in the same way.
Here's how I asked my boyfriend to Homecoming. The theme was " A night under the stars". While he was out with his friends, I went to his house and decorated his closet doors. I took yellow poster board and wrote: "Star light star bright, first star you'll see tonight; I wish you may I wish you might, be my date Homecoming Night" and hung that up in the middle. I then took a bunch of glow in the dark stars, and star stickers and decorated around the poster on his closet door. It looked really cool and he loved it. Now I have a date for homecoming!
Decorate the guy's (or girls') room with balloons and streamers, and put little chocolate kisses everywhere. Then put a bag of kisses somewhere obvious, like on the pillow, attach a note to the bag that says, "Dump bag over head." Include a note which will fall out of the bag (place the note in the bag, so it falls out), which reads: "Now that I have kissed you from head to toe, will you go to the dance with me?"
Leave a box of chocolates on their doorstep with a note: "Will you go out with me? If yes, eat all of the chocolates and give me the box. If no, leave the chocolates in a bag on the doorknob and keep the box.
Laminate a message that says, "I know this is cheesy, but will you go to ____ with me? Have a pizza delivery set up for a cheese pizza, and ask them to attach your message to the inside of the pizza box.
Fill the room with blue balloons only, and leave a poster that says, "If you want to go to ________, send me a blue balloon, if not, send me the yellow balloon." Make sure you don't leave any yellow balloons!
Write your message on toilet paper and toilet paper their house.
