Ideas for Asking
(for Ages 22-24)
Get a small pool and put it in the guys front yards with real fish in it. One some sort of paper write...OUT OF ALL THE FISH IN THE SEA, GO TO _________ WITH ME!
Pour some water into a large bowl. Put a capsule (like from a gum ball machine) with a piece of paper asking them to go to the dance. If the capsule doesn't sink, try adding sugar. Freeze it and leave it on their door step. It's also a cute way to answer someone who asked you to the dance.
Take glow in the dark stars and spell out "Will you go to ______ with me?" (followed with a heart and your name).
Get a pumpkin. Laminate the message and put in the middle of the pumpkin guts. The person has to clean the pumpkin out and carve a smile for "yes" and a frown for "no".
Tie bananas to a tree and attach a note saying I'd go bananas if you will go to the dance with me.
Buy some tickets for a concert or ball game. Simply mail your date a ticket explaining that someone (the holder of the accompanying ticket) will pick him/her up the night of the event at a certain time. For confirmation, ask for a sign ("Tie a yellow ribbon around your mailbox, if yes. Otherwise, leave the ticket in an envelope if you can't go and I'll pick it up tomorrow").
Buy a LARGE bag of M&Ms. Punch out enough circles with a hole punch corresponding to the letters in your name. Write the letters on the small circles and glue them on the M&M's (one letter for each M&M). Put them in a bag and tape the bag to a sign "Will you go with me to ___________".
If you have a cooperative teacher, ask him/her to do a class activity. Find out about your potential date and make a list of questions. The teacher should have all the students stand up at the beginning of the game The questions should narrow out the askee: i.e. Sit down if you are a guy; remain standing if you were born in the summer; sit down if you have a dog; etc. until the only person still standing would be your potential date. The teacher would then give this person an envelope with your invitation.
Write your invitation in a foreign language. Give your potential date the invitation and the foreign language dictionary (or web address) for translation.
Make a simple web site and ask him/her out personally (get a web page from a free service). You may want to add some nifty graphics like hearts. If they don't have the internet, have them go to the Library.
Make a cake, and then with Alpha-bits Cereal, spell out "Will you go out with me?".
Buy DOZENS of "Swedish Fish" gummy candies, (individually wrapped) and put them all over his/her room. (I don't mean just a couple, I'm talking he/she'll be having fishes turn up in odd places MONTHS after the dance.. in drawers, between sheets, in shoes, etc.) Make a poster decorated with fish that says: "If fishes were wishes and you had three, Would one of them be to go to the dance with me?"
Send a lift pass and a coupon for a cup of steamy hot chocolate. Then head for the ski slopes.
If you want to ask someone, just put a baby pool filled with water in their front yard. Then put pennies at the bottom of it and some rubber duckies floating in it. Then have a posterboard saying " I would be a LUCKY DUCK if you went to _________ with me."
Laminate a message that says, "I know this is cheesy, but will you go to ____ with me? Have a pizza delivery set up for a cheese pizza, and ask them to attach your message to the inside of the pizza box.
Get some eggs and hard boil them, one for every letter of your name. After they are done, let them cool in the fridge over night. The next day use a white crayon and put one letter of your name on each egg.. Put some candy in the basket, and a note that says something like, "I'm dyeing to go to the dance with you...to find out who this, is dye the eggs and put the name together."
For a special occasion, try a treasure hunt--complete with clues hidden in the apartment building, around campus, or inside his/her apartment
