Playing Dates
(for Ages Under 16)
Climb trees.
Play on the playground at MacDonald's or Burger King (ask the manager for permission).
Buy two disposable cameras. Then go around the town to unusual signs, kiddy rides, or to the park and take pictures (together and separate). As a second date, get together after the pictures are developed (don't forget refreshments).
Collect a variety of flat rocks and go to a lake for a rock-skipping contest.
Play Frisbee flag football (substitute a Frisbee for a football). Limit the number of downs, based upon the size of the field.
In the fall, take a blanket and a cup of hot chocolate outside. Lay the blanket on the ground underneath a tree, drink hot chocolate, and play a board game (battleship, stratego, trouble, etc.)
Borrow a box of Legos, Kinex, building blocks, etc. and divide them evenly among couples. Each couple has 15 minutes to make a project. The winning couple (as determined by applause) receives a certificate or ribbon.
Get a can of foamy shaving cream for each person. Find somewhere that you can make a mess, pass out cans, then ATTACK! Have a fun shaving cream fight. Make sure your dates have clothes on that they don't mind getting dirty.
Go to a large outdoor shopping plaza and play cops and robbers. Everyone brings a small squirt gun (no super soakers). You cannot go inside stores.
List all the city parks in your area which have playgrounds. Allow space next to each park to fill in a time and date. Over several dates, visit each park and swing together, then record the date and time until you have visited each playground. It is a great way to get to know each other and you'll learn a lot about your city's parks.
Catch frogs and have a frog-jumping contest.
Race Go-Karts.
