Romantic Dates
(for Ages Under 16)
Rent ice skates at a local rink. After a couple of hours of skating, when hands are frozen and the excitement has worn off, go home and make some hot chocolate and enjoy cuddling in front of a warm fire.
Build a tent out of blankets in your living room. Decorate the inside with flowers, fancy dishes, candles, romantic music, etc. Surprise your date with take-out dinner in the tent!
Have a candlelight picnic in the backyard.
Show up with 2 pieces of stationary with envelopes (one for each of you) and some paper and pens. Write each other a letter describing how you feel about the other person or anything special about the relationship and where you think you'll be or what you think you'll be doing in a certain amount of time. Then, agree to open your notes in a week, month, year, etc.
Sit on your house roof or on the lawn and see who can count the most shooting stars. Talk about your goals and aspirations.
Take a candle, a candle stand, some matches, and your own cereal goodies (cereal, milk, spoons, bowls). Go to the park and have Cheerios By Candlelight (choose your date's favorite cereal).
Cut out different colored heart shaped pieces of paper, write cute little rhyming clues linking each heart to the next one eventually leading to where you are hiding. Hide them in different areas outside. Surprise him/her with a romantic poem when he/she reaches you.
Watch the sunset together (best at the lake, ocean, or mountains).
Take a horse-drawn carriage ride.
Take a hay wagon ride. Come back to hot chocolate and doughnuts.
