Service Dates
(for Ages 16-18)
Bake cookies together and take them to a local retirement home, homeless shelter, police station or to someone you know who is ill or housebound.
Run errands for your parents (keep things light and fun).
Give your parents a night together. Offer to baby-sit your little brothers and/or sisters, while your parents go on a date.
Plan and prepare a surprise birthday party for your little brother or sister, or a roommate. Invite all of his/her friends, make the refreshments and decorations, and supervise the games.
Spend a warm afternoon washing dogs. If you don't have any, borrow a few. If you enjoy it, wash all the dogs in the neighborhood.
Sing for people who are lonely or sad. And don’t wait for Christmas: you can spread cheer on any day.
As a group, wash and clean everyones' cars. Be prepared for a water fight!
Go singing at a retirement home or hospital. Be prepared to have your heart touched by the experience.
Volunteer at the Special Olympics with your date, you will see a side of him/her that you've never seen before.
Take children to the zoo. Perhaps you can volunteer with a local youth home or home for mentally handicapped children. Or offer to take your little brothers/sisters.
