Special Occasions
(for Ages 16-18)
For an anniversary, plan a picnic and afterwards, go for a walk to "discover" surprises at stops along the way. Enlarge a portrait of you and your date, make it into a puzzle, and leave pieces along the path, together with a rose and note at each piece. It is romantic and a great way to surprise your date.
Go to a parade. Afterwards, go on a picnic. End the day with fireworks. With a little planning, this could be a memorable date.
Set up dinner on a hilltop or on a balcony with a view of the fireworks. Throw a swim party and have a picnic later. Then watch fireworks that evening..
Volunteer to assist in a community event, such as Special Olympics, March of Dimes, telethon, or local festival.
Organize a Christmas dinner and dance.
Take pictures over an extended period of time and then make a slide show presentation. Or request childhood pictures from your friend's parent, so you can scan those pictures. Add fun captions to make it more meaningful.
Read scriptures or poetry around a fire. Bring flashlights.
Give your date a weed arrangement (long-stemmed dandelions accented with other weeds). Do this before a picnic or "grubby" date, not a formal prom.
