Unusual Dates
(for Ages 16-18)

Go to a department store's toy section, pick out kiddie instruments, and have your own little jam session. Works even better if you take the instruments to some other department like shoes or cosmetics.

If your date is into gothic, go to the cemetery late at night. Just chill out and talk.

Go to a wedding reception of someone you don't know.

Dress up like Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus and visit the little neighborhood children.

Invent a holiday and celebrate it.

Take a tablecloth, silverware and candlestick and eat at MacDonald's.

Get five or six couples together and paint a garage or a house for a neighbor or someone needy. Afterwards, roast hotdogs and sing songs around a fire in a park or in the mountains.

Make quilts for babies in less privileged homes. A simple quilt can be made using a soft fabric (fleece or flannel), cutting 3 inch parallel lines (one inch apart) down both sides. Finish the quilt by tying knots on each strip of fabric.

Go to the mall with your date and two easels and painting supplies. Put up a sign offering free portraits, then one of the couples does their best portrait while the other spends five minutes drawing stick figures. Show them both to the person, ask which is better and give him/her both portraits.

Gather a box of select valuable articles you don't want. Trade boxes, go to your local pawn shop and try to sell each other's items to the dealer. Take your earnings and go out to dinner.

Get involved in your community and meet new people by participating in a campaign together. Your help will be needed and appreciated. You will gain a better understanding of public service sector.

Have a surprise pizza party. Order a pizza delivery to a friend's house. Be nearby when the pizza is delivered, so you can see him explain he didn't order a pizza. Enter the scene just in time to pick up the tab and then enjoy the food.

Play croquet with a twist (in the wintertime or at night with flashlights).

Go to a furniture store and get a couple of large shipping boxes, gather about six couples together and decorate the boxes like cars. Then when you are finished, put handles on the inside, travel to the local drive-in, climb in, and walk your group through the drive-in and order dinner.

Drive to an empty field, face cars inward in a circle, turn all the radios to the same station and have a dance.

After asking your dates out, go with a friend to a piece of land (with permission of course) and bury a coffin (fake) containing chips and soda (or some other type of snack). Tell your date that you are going to go for a drive because you heard a coffin at an old Indian cemetery is starting to come out. Take shovels out of your car and have your dates start digging. They normally flip.
